Opportunities for paid work experience
Vacation work is a great way to explore your career aspirations. Some Rio Tinto business units provide students with a range of opportunities to undertake paid work experience during college and university vacation periods.
The timing and nature of these opportunities differs from country to country. They may be referred to in different jurisdictions as internships, co-operative placements or vacation work. Opportunities occur particularly in the engineering and geoscience disciplines. In all cases, applications are advertised on, and taken through, this website (we are currently looking for suitable people to undertake vacation work with Rio Tinto in summer 2009/10 in Australia).
There is a limited number of international internships available for geology, mining and metallurgy students in their third or fourth year.
The Africa Europe division of Rio Tinto Exploration runs a summer placement scheme as a pre-cursor for recruitment.
