Located between the Swan River and the Indian Ocean, Perth has succeeded in providing the perfect environment for a relaxed and healthy lifestyle, whilst maintaining its status as a sophisticated and modern city. The city, along with nearby Fremantle, provides excellent beaches, expansive parks, cosmopolitan dining and a wealth of diversions from theatre and music events to wine and food festivals, surfing, sports and a network of cycle ways.
Kwinana, the location of the HIsmelt project, is 43 kilometres south of Perth close to the coastal tourist town of Rockingham famous for its safe beaches, water sports and history of settlement.
Further afield, the south west of Western Australia offers the Margaret River wine region, boutique breweries, a rugged coastline, world class surf breaks and a lifestyle largely built on fine wine, great food and relaxation.
Living in the Pilbara region of Western Australia is easy too. Not only is it home to some of Australia's richest resources, it is also home to some of the country's most magnificent natural landscapes. Extending from the Indian Ocean to the Northern Territory border, the Pilbara covers more than 500,000 square kilometres and is blessed with stunning natural beauty, 2.8 million year old landscapes, modern mining communities and a rich and diverse cultural heritage.
There are three national parks each with its own selection of deep red gorges, secluded rock pools, waterfalls and wildflowers. The climate in the Pilbara region is tropical with wet and dry seasons. During the wet season, December to April, the humidity is often high with temperatures in the 30s and 40s Celsius. The dry season runs from April to November and brings temperatures ranging from 15 to the mid 20s.
Pastimes such as fishing and scuba diving off the coast, camping, mine tours, bush walking and hiking, swimming in rock pools, photography, abseiling and more are all readily available in the Pilbara - the nation's powerhouse.
